Most people think that when we talk of Pelargoniums we are only talking of this type, as that is how they have always been known. They are the royalty of the geranium family and are always in demand. They will flower best from April to June and most have beautiful large flower heads, some being frilly. The modern introductions have longer flowering periods. Give them a go! BEST FOR: Can be bedded out but flower better as pot plants, indoors or out.

Australian Bute We think this is stunning - dark wine petals of the Lord Bute tone but in the most remarkable shape! Each petal goes into a “point” and is very attractive. Only: £2.50

Aztec (Schmidt 1962) A white base with strawberry and bronze blotches on each petal. A compact and bushy plant. Certainly one of the best Regals available. Only: £2.20

Black Velvet A very dark flower - we love it. Only: £2.20

Blackcurrant Sundae Deep blackcurrant markings contrast wonderfully against the lighter lavender pink petals….so much nicer and longer lasting than it’s ice cream namesake! Only: £2.20

Hazel (D Fielding ) This is superb and grows wonderfully…but it is a tinker to get rooted. My mother always likens our collection of plants to when she was a school teacher and taught seven year olds … “some do as they are told and some just do their own thing!” And Hazel is no exception – once the plant is rooted she’s fine but she takes a long time to get there! Lilac Joy (A Simmons 2002) A superb lilac coloured regal – pretty flowers a good strong growing plant. Only: £1.90

Lord Bute (1910) This has to be one of the most popular Regals of all time - stunning dark flowers with a pink picotee edge to each petal - this one never fails to be admired and is our favourite Regal. Only: £2.20

Marchioness Of Bute What a stunning plant - almost black flowers that fade out to purple and the petals are ruffled around the edges. Part of ‘Bute’ family of plants. Only: £2.50

Marquis of Bute (Vernon's ) Our Richard here at the nursery released this wonderful variety. It has lovely variegated foliage and yet the same stunning flowers as Lord Bute. There are now quite a few in the wonderful ‘Bute’ family – all having that wonderful lush dark colouring in the petals and edged with pink Only: £3.00

Mohawk This variety is fabulous, comes into flower early and smothers itself in bright pink flowers which are splashed and speckled with pink flecks. A very impressive variety. Only: £3.00

Morwenna (Parrett 1964) We’d best whisper about this one as it’s always so very popular and we always struggle to keep up with the demand so we’d best keep the beauty of it’s deep, deep wine red petals a secret between you and us – if everyone finds out they’ll all want to be growing one! Our Gynette (Ben Hoddinot ) What superb dark colours - the outer petals for a 'circle' of almost black and the inner has featherings of blackcurrant. A Regal type which grows reasonably tall so would make a stunning centerpiece of a mixed tub. Only: £3.50

Peggy Sue (B Pearce ) A compact plant with deep velvety purple petals. Very eye catching. Grow three of these together in a tub and you’ll be rewarded with a display with impact. Only: £1.70

Phyllis Richardson A double flowering Regal - the first we have ever seen. A really pretty rose pink on a strong plant. Always in demand. Only: £1.90

Princess of Wales Such a pretty plant – pink flower heads that are ruffled at the edges in a lovely strawberry pink colour – we love it. Only: £3.50

Raspberry Surprise (Penn ) What a beautiful variety! Large raspberry coloured flowers that are splashed and speckled with darker markings. Only: £2.50

Rimfire (J Ritchie, Australia ) WOW! Very dark wine petals which look fiery, hence the name! Each petals has pretty edging making it look a real stunner! Only: £3.50

Romeo A very beautiful one - deep wine petals with black centres. These dark varieties are always so admired. Only: £1.90

Royal Star (Mrs N C Stemp ) This is a lovely variety which looks great in bloom. Deep maroon upper petals against peach pink lower petals. Only: £2.20

Springfield Black Our biggest selling Regal and it’s not hard to see why. It’s probably the darkest Regal we grow and with it’s excellent habit it easily makes a good plant. It really is almost black. Someone suggested it could be used for growing a black and white display but I prefer a bit of colour myself! This one does look great in a mixed display and also for impact on its own. Only: £2.20

Sunset Snow (J Ritchie, Australia ) When we saw this variety we just had to have it in our collection. Similar to Mohawk in shading but in a stunning lavender colour and splashed and speckled in purple. Only: £3.00

Super Spot Bonanza (Oakleigh Nursery ) This is lovely– the flowers are very pale pink and light peach with the petals being speckled and splashed with peach. Only: £2.20

Susan Pearce (B Pearce ) This variety causes the ‘wow’ factor in summer – the stock smothers itself in these lovely mauve-red-purple toned flowers…. very pretty and very floriferous (which wouldn’t be easy to say after all that Burgundy mentioned earlier on!). Only: £1.90
