Scented Leaf Geraniums

Much nicer than pot pourri! Mostly grown for the foliage and scent (some specific, and some pleasantly aromatic) – although some do have extremely attractive blooms. It’s amazing to think you can rub a geranium leaf and smell a lemon! BEST FOR: The herb garden, herbaceous borders, garden tubs and on the windowsill in the small room!

Ashby
(Mrs Popperwell 1999)
Ashby
Beautiful deep purple flowers on a strong growing plant with a sweet aromatic smell. Always admired when seen on display. It’s difficult to describe the scents – some have a definite smell and some are just ‘aromatic’ and pleasant – but some of the names do give you a clue – who could doubt what Lemon Fancy smells of?!
Only: £5.00
Attar Of Roses Attar Of Roses

A vigorous grower with rose scented leaves and pink flowers. We can always tell if someone is taking scented leaf cuttings as you open the greenhouse door and get hit by a wonderful perfume!

A most eyecatching variety and we don’t have anything else like it in our whole collection – the leaves are bright lime green and variegated against dark green. It doesn’t have a definite smell but it is sweet smelling and certainly a beauty to show off.

Crispum Variegatum
Perhaps the best known scented geranium. Used by flower arrangers and can also be “trained” around wire to form shapes. We have grown our own “standard” from it. One to have at home. Clear lemon scent.

Graveolens
The vigorous lemon-scented variety from which “Oil of Geranium” is extracted. Oil of geranium is supposed to be very calming in aromatherapy – this must be why we’re all so calm on the nursery! This is the geranium you see in every Chinese take-away as it is such a good air freshener! Also great if your guests have been smoking!

Hemley Hemley
(Mrs Popperwell 1994)
We've had this one in geranium hospital to build it up over the years! Always proves so popular that we struggle to keep up - but it's had lots of attention and now we have enough to be able to bring it back into the collection. Large growing with beautiful lavender pink flowers.

Lady Mary
(Cannell 1910)

Should this be in the Scented Leaf section or the Angel section?! It’s a mixture of the two – as it has nutmeg scented foliage we’ll call it Scented Leaf. A very pretty plant with Angel type flowers.

A geranium that smells of a Lavender – whatever will they think of next! Isn’t it truly amazing of nature that you can rub a geranium leaf and smell pure lavender. This one has a tricky name but thankfully it has a very simple code number to use to order it! We call it Pel Del on the nursery… well why make life difficult with long latin names?!
