Fuchsia 'Garden News'

Fuchsia

Hardy Shrub

Named after the popular weekly gardening paper. It has large blooms which is unusual for the Hardy Fuchsias as they tend to have smaller flowers. Pretty pink blooms on a sturdy grower. Hardy Fuchsias are ever popular as you plant once and that's it! Plant out in the garden by July at the latest and the plant will send it's roots deep down into the ground for winter protection and then every year they will come back to give you colour year after year. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 40cm (16").

Pot up plugs and grow them on until large enough to plant outside in their final positions. Pinch out the growing points where stems have more than 2 sets of leaves, while the plants are still small. This encourages fuchsia plants to produce more stems, making a bushier plant with more flowers. Grow fuchsias in containers or borders, in any moist, well drained soil. Position in a sunny or semi shaded site which is protected from cold winds over winter.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Deadhead faded flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. In autumn, a bark or compost mulch applied to the base of fuchsia plants will help to protect hardy fuchsias from winter cold.
